ICC Open Space is a community space that is free of charge and open throughout the year. It utilizes part of the gallery, library, mini theater and lounge and is organized around this year's concept, "Open!" As an accumulation of the core activities at ICC, about ten works are presented free of charge at the following ICC Zones and Corners: Art & Technology, Research & Development, Network, and Archive. It is also possible to further research the activity history of ICC through various reference materials and visual recordings.
With a completely functional cafe, shop, and lounge, ICC aims to create an environment where one encounters and engages with the progressive experimental activities derived from the dialogue between technology and art. Exhibitions are planned to change annually.

Art & Technology Zone
Art & Technology Zone is an exhibition area where one can investigate the dialogue between technology and art. It presents an overview of artistic expression within information society and its context while also surveying changes of artistic style, era and social order. We want people to experience selected artworks, by representative media artists with themes and keywords such as interactivity, devices, webs, and images. A chronological table of the socio-cultural movements of media art and its context since 1990 is available for further study. For a multi-faceted understanding, ICC provides access to a sound-absorbing anechoic room where one can experience silence; a playroom lounge for younger generations; a display of research & development by corporations, public institutions and universities; and also presents emerging artists while providing them an exhibiting space.

Research & Development
Research cases are obtained and presented from the NTT research laboratories, government sponsored development projects, and from academic institutions.
Network zone
A variety of networks, such as the internet, have impacted our lives. This zone exhibits work that is inspired by network technology and technology that encourages new ways of communication and new creative expressions. When one can communicate with multiple other people who are far away and when many distant people are interconnected on a network, what kinds of new possibilities are created? This zone explores this question through the exhibition of works that utilize networks and two-way high definition technology.
Archive Zone
Archive Zone presents a multi-faceted history of ICC. One can read and experience audio/visual works from the archive at the library and mini theater, and use a computer terminal to experience "HIVE", image recording archive of ICC. Comprised of digitized information, HIVE presents various activities that have taken place at ICC since its opening in 1997 and introduces future activities, such as exhibitions, symposiums, lectures, live events and workshops through the internet. Archive Zone provides educational material for individuals, academic institutions and for other creative uses. ICC seeks to provide cultural resources, such as ICC activities, to the public and make them as widely available as possible. Visual content, including the video art collection and the ICC interview series, are also available. Creative Commons Licenses of HIVE and related technologies are also presented.
