"In-between Gaze" 2008
WATANABE Mizuki
A projector shows an out-of-focus image. When the viewer uses a magnifying glass to bring it into focus, a screen appears with the image being projected and a video of the exhibition space, with the viewer, is rendered within it. The result is "Self seeing self seeing self," a chain-wise seeing of the self that presents the simultaneous existence of the "self who is seeing" and the "self who is seen."
WATANABE Mizuki Born in 1980, WATANABE graduated from the Chelsea College of Arts and Design in 2005, then entered the Department of New Media in the Graduate School of Film and New Media at Tokyo University of the Arts, graduating in 2008.
