ZIN Kijong
These are two examples from the "On Air" series, in which images of several miniature sets are edited in real time to produce what look like television programs or commercials. "YTN" refers to the 2005 incident in which Korean researchers were found to have published falsified data about embryonic stem cells. "Discovery" recalls the 1969 landing of Apollo 11 on the moon. Both suggest that reporting in the mass media might, like an individual's subjective views, lack objectivity.
ZIN Kijong ZIN was born in 1981 and graduated from Kyungwon University. He has participated in artist-in-residence programs such as the Art Omi Artist Residence (New York, 2007) and the Ssamsie Space program (Seoul, 2007). He has also taken part in many exhibitions, including "New Start Grants for Emerging Arts" (Art Council Korea, Seoul, 2007), "Thermocline of Art" (ZKM, Museum of Contemporary Art, Karlsruhe, Germany, 2007), and "Art Lan@Asia" (ZAIM, Yokohama, 2007). In Korea, he has been considering as one of the potential and remarkable young artists.
