The European concept of rhythm, with its premise of dividing time, has been conceptually broadened for use in discussions of the partitioning of space and the patterning of sensory perception. Yet, this mode of thinking about time and its component factors should not be understood as universal. Offering samples of his own work, TAKAHASHI discussed the potential uses of digital technology and advocated a musicology based not in performance or instructional notations for performance, but rather, in the sound-producing physical movements of the body.
Speakers: TAKAHASHI Yuji (composer, pianist) and ASADA Akira
