Program One: Sound & Music - Artwork at IRCAM (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique / Musique)

Saturday, July 16, 1994

Outline

The Pompidou Center’s IRCAM in Paris extensively researches computer music and the application of sound engineering music. MANOURY was one of the composers representing IRCAM. PUCKETTE is the developer of “MAX,” recognized world-wide as the most exemplary application of computer music. In 1988, the two created “‘Pluto’ for Piano and 4x Computer (presently using ISPW).” NODAIRA was the first to perform this piece. The three discussed musical creation in today’s increasingly complex technological environment from the perspectives of composer, engineer, and performer.

Speakers: Philippe MANOURY (composer), Miller PUCKETTE (scientist), NODAIRA Ichiro (composer), and RAI Takayuki (composer)
