Program Eight: Machine (Transport and Communication in the Near Future)

Friday, November 19, 1993

Outline

Both communication and transportation machines are entering a new stage of human-machine interface. What kinds of problems emerge between humans and tools as technologies develop and change? This program approached these questions through the concrete example of the automobile. In looking at the current situation in which information and speed machines (=vehicles) are becoming increasingly alike, the physicality of such an interface and its significance for theories of communication was considered.

Speakers: SUZUKI Masafumi (editor, NAVI) and UENO Toshiya (social philosopher)
