“Sound Pole” [2005]

ISHIGURO Takeshi

Outline

When you come within a certain distance from the pole, the sound starts. The volume increases as you get closer and closer. This artwork creates an electromagnetic field around each pole that serve as an antenna, and this changes the volume when you move near the field or hold your hand over the pole. Additionally, you can see how the work installed at ICC reacts on the Web site. “Sound Pole” welcomes visitors to ICC or the Web site, playing the sound as if it is having a conversation with people.
