dePENd is a system that guides the drawing user by controlling the movement of the pen. This was achieved by focusing on the ferromagnetic tip of ballpoint pens. When the user draws on this table, we control the position of a magnet embedded in the table which attracts the pen and manipulates the user’s drawing movement. With dePENd the user can physically draw the computer data of diagrams, lines and circles on paper by relying on the movement of the pen. In addition, this technology of archiving, copying and transferring hand drawn diagrams can influence new creations and methods of communication.
