ISHIBASHI Tomoya

Profile

His is working on biology/art hybrid projects that explore the "interactionsbetween human and nature, and its aesthetics." He has based his work on his actual background on biology. His current main project, "Goldfish Liberation Movement" is about re-breeding the goldfish to regain their ancestral origin of a crucian carp. Goldfish has been selected through human desire-based aesthetic selection for 1,700 years to lose their ability to survive under natural conditions. Thus, this project is an aesthetic biopolitical activity to regain their wildness to recover "their own right."
Born in 1990, he joined metaPhorest since 2011. His is currently, a graduate student at Waseda University.
