Born 1952. He entered the institute of NTT in Yokosuka after graduating with a Masters degree from Kyushu University.He has served as the head of the Department 6(Mechanisms for Information Generation and Integration) of ATR HIP Research Labs. He has also held the position of head of a research group at NTT Human Interface Laboratories since 1995. He studies emergent image processing and system evolution for brain communication.
