Oshima Toshikazu was born in 1963 and received his bachelor's degree (in 1986) and doctorate (in 1991) from the University of Tsukuba, for work on computer graphics. After joining Canon, Inc., he was assigned to the information systems research laboratory and participated in research on virtual reality. Since February, 1997, he has been seconded to MR Systems' research laboratory, where as principal researcher he is in charge of research and development on mixed reality technologies and particularly HMD-based Augmented Reality systems. He is working on applications of AR technologies in entertainment and exploring outdoor AR technologies.
