We all have bodies. Our lives are created through interactions between our bodies and spaces. At the Media Art Research Center, our participants addressed the theme "Space and Body" as one way of apprehending the world in their research and creative work. In this symposium they explore the potential for works of art that are not confined to computer screens or museum displays but function, instead, as communication tools in architectural and public spaces. Shikata Yukiko will discuss media art theory in relation to space and the body. Mikami Seiko and Ichikawa Sota will examine how space and body interact by discussing their own works and reporting on the results of our four-day workshop.
