NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC] is hosting a web art competition, ICC Mashup Art Contest.
Mashup refers to the creation of new web services through combining technologies or contents drawn from different Internet sources, such as goo or Google. This approach has drawn a lot of attention within the industry as a new method of web development. With the increasing popularity of mashup websites, various competitions have been organized to evaluate new web services or businesses developed using the mashup approach. This trend has also been quietly becoming a major influence on the making of digital art and careful analysis reveals many recently produced artworks have been created by processing information collected over the Internet. ICC, with its focus on the impact this new approach is having in the domain of art, invites the submission of mashup artworks. Selected top-quality works will be showcased at a special exhibition.
