In a wide space people's shadows are projected on various surfaces, with the help of light that is so intense that it makes the shadows seem almost self-sustained. In "Frequency and Volume" visitors scan in real-time frequencies of invisible urban infrastructures - air traffic control, shortwaves, mobile phones, radio communication (taxi etc.) and others in the 50kHz-1.5GHz range - and transform them into sound through active movements of the body. Forward and backward movement regulates the volume, while moving to the left and right alters the frequency. In other words, this work offers the novel experience of functioning as an antenna that makes the visitor part of a virtual radio set: the exhibition space itself.
