A large interactive installation, where visitors manipulate image
and sound via an interface using four large drums, or tamburi.
Enlarged images of peopleå°ˆ palms are projected onto the surfaces
of the tamburi. When you strike the drum, your eyes are drawn along
the lines traced into those palms. Various small objects appear at
different points on the palms, only to be suddenly clutched by those
very palms. As the palms close, messages are sent out over the Internet.
<<TAMBURI>> uses the motif of the drum - one of the oldest
of all communication tools - to embody in interactive form, core concepts
of our cultural traditions and historical cultures.
(Since this is a new work, some of the particulars may change by the
time of exhibition)
