YAMAGUCHI Katsuhiro

Katsuhiro YAMAGUCHI's work is a video pastiche based on a novel "The Invention of Morel" by Adolfo Bioy Casares, a friend of Borges, written in 1940, which predicts on freezing and preservation of images of the reality. Since the modern technology did not exist when the original story was written, the parody is interestingly and sometimes frighteningly more realistic than the original. If reality can be stored in the raw, analog form and thawed as necessary -- for example, if routine activities are not formed into data but transferred into a library or museum without processing -- it may be more frightening than digital technology.
