Prototype of Network Version of "Jews in Space"
This project combines straight HTML and VRML with very small Quicktime clips (video/audio, less than 300k each) to present a sketch of what a open network version of the feature film "Jews in Space" might look like.
The conceit organizing this presentation of the narrative is the idea of a memory theater shared by two (or more) telepaths, an imaginary construction which is of importance in the "Jews in Space" story. The term "memory theater" refers to classical and medieval mnemonic techniques, which strive to enhance and organize memory by the use of spatially organized, associatively based, personal visualizations.
It is my intention that the final network version of this feature-length work of electronic cinema will be released simultaneous with the theatrical version, perhaps in two years time. Presently, I conceive of this as a Virtual Movie/Theater, an intercommunicative place incorporating hypertext, audio, video, and virtual reality, where there is no difference between book, movie, and virtual reality.
