'Corpora.Condensation'
doubleNegatives Architecture

The various efforts of doubleNegatives Architecture to date are based on the proposition that "a completely new spatial concept/design would probably emerge if architects used a different 窶蕨otation' system for describing space."

Their most well-known work, "Corpora in Si(gh)te" is an installation incorporating a variety of different components, including such technologies as smart dust technology and augmented reality (AR), as well as elements of algorithmic and generative design. By presenting a type of architecture that transforms according to the changing weather conditions around the exhibition venue, the artists explore possibilities of architecture that redesigns itself in an interactive relationship with the surrounding environment. The experimental endeavors of doubleNegatives Architecture are aimed to verify on virtual constructs how an endless process of recalculation in response to climate changes can be realized.

This exhibition introduces another aspect of the Corpora Project as part of which "Corpora in Si(gh)te" was made. Here the focus is on the question what kind of connection can be established between architecture and the human realm when the continuous process is intentionally "condensed," and the result materializes in the real world. This is at once the point of view from which the exhibition illustrates on models, drawings and software how the process, including actually manufactured and used interior fixtures, has been produced.

doubleNegatives Architecture (dNA) Profile

Group of architects operating since 1988 around core member, architect ICHIKAWA Sota (born 1972). dNA have been proposing space and environment-related concepts by way of various different media. By reinvestigating methods of describing space 窶in a way the "language of architects" – they aim to develop uniquely new design methods. For each project the group comprises different members including architects, designers, media artists, musicians, etc.
