Lecture "Past Projections: Media Archaeological Perspectives on Cinematic Futures"
The culture of the moving image did not begin with the advent of the "cinema". Cinematic futures had been envisioned long before that in a wide range of contexts ranging from the "natural magic" of the Baroque era to the positivist discourse on chronophotography. This lecture will excavate some of these anticipations and investigate them in the cultural contexts within which they emerged. The predictions of the past will also be connected with current visions about the future of the moving image.
Date: December 21(Sun.) 2:00p.m.— [Finished] Venue: ICC 5F Lobby Admission: Free Capacity: 150 persons
