Preface

miki yui creates performances and installations with the theme of the elimination of the public and the private in the noise-filled modern media environment. Parallel to her musical activities Cologne-based sound artist miki yui has been collaborating with Felix HAHN on ask- acoustic survival kit based on the concept of "small sound." This concept turns the consciousness inward using very small noises. She created clothing that opens the senses through the acquisition of small electronic sounds. In addition to her own work, she has worked tirelessly in collaboration with projected image artists and participated in the Academy of Media Arts Cologne at the "Digital Bauhaus" exhibition that was held at this facility in 1999.

This new work to be shown at ICC is <<wanderland>>. This is the first time the artist has used an anechoic room as an exhibit venue. Based on chaos theory, programmed noises from 6 speakers will produce transformed sound fields. Observers will move around and stand still in the room for about 5 minutes to experience the work. The work will complete a unique aural experience for all those experiencing it based on their movements.
