The exhibition series "New Media New Face" was initiated with the aim to explore and nurture new talents in the field of media art. The second of this series will now shift its focus from artists in Japan to those abroad. "New Media New Face / New York" invites a broad range of artists living and working in New York, and will feature some of their most recent works.

New York is blessed with many nourishing grounds for media art, and is one of the centers for such cutting-edge artists. New York University's Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) of Tisch School of the Arts is gathering attention as a program which liberates researchers from the confines of established categories such as art, design and technology, whilst encouraging the practice of new creative modes which combine those categories. There is also POSTMASTERS, a gallery highly recognized for its continuous success in featuring artists in the digital field for over 15 years. In and around such institutions we witness a wide range of spirited artists including foreign artists who have come to New York in pursuit of a new milieu to present their works.

"New Media New Face / New York" will not only feature young talents, but also those who have not yet had the opportunity to be presented in Japan. The show aims to provide audiences with a glimpse of the new trends which are now unfolding in the East Coast art scene, especially in the field of media art.
