Preface
An American music composer, Carl
Stone, who is a standard-bearer of post minimalism, has widely influenced
musicians in the field of contemporary music as well as musicians
in the vein of club/techno music. He has been regarded as one of the
most important musician at the contemporary era. The workshop and
solo concert entitled "Sampling Neurosis" is dedicated to
a famous jazz musician, utilizing the materials from his latest project
also entitled "Sampling Neurosis." With utilizing feedback
between sampling machines, he creates complicated music patterns,
which would go beyond from a player's imagination. Imitating musicians
using acoustic instruments who can play whenever and wherever, he
constructs a simple setup centering on Macintosh PowerBook and gives
his live performances, which is one of the characteristics of his
style. This event will be a perfect and rare opportunity to inspect
his manner of composing music to the details.
