- Description of the Art Work
- The Coalition for Positive Sexuality distributes a pro-safe sex,
pro-choice, pro-woman, pro-queer pamphlet called "Just Say Yes," along with
condoms, outside Chicago public schhols.
- Description of incident
- To date, we have been told by
administrators at public schools that "this is a Christian school," we have
watched teenagers get frisked for the booklet or have it confiscated upon
entering the school, and we have fought with administrators who try to get
between us and the students as we hand out materials. Furthermore, although
Chicago law allows distribution of materials 1,000 feet aaway from schools,
school administrators have ordered us to leave and called the police on us,
though there have been no arrests. Also, the Chicago Department of Health has
refused to supply us with condoms, claiming that the frank language, explicit
discussions of sexuality, and refusal to promote abstinence in the booklet
render it too controversial to merit free condoms.
