- Perhaps the most well-known of his censored films is "Surcos" (1951).
"Todos somos necesarios" ("We Are All Necessary") (1957), a film about
the scarcity of housing depicted through the life of a family evicted
from their home, was also censored.
- Description of incident
- The Ministerio de Informacion y Turismo (Ministry of Information and
Tourism) forbade the showing of the film because it gave a wrongful
impression of housing in Spain. The film's export to France was also
prohibited, as well as its participation in the Festival de Karlouy Vary.
- Results of incident
- The director's protests resulted in the board allowing him to remake the
ending, but the film remained censored.
