- The Fundacio Bernat Metge was an organization established in Barcelona
to translate classical writings - such as The Bible or the works of
Dante, Seneca and Plutarch - into Catalan, the language of Catalan countries, in the
east of Spain.

- The organization was constantly denied government subsidies, in an
attempt to make the language obsolete.
