"Botanical Ambulation Training" 2007

In the process of evolution, plants discarded mobility and chose to become fully dependent on their surroundings, in order to maximize the adaptations that allow them to utilize their environments to the fullest extent. Fujihata and Dogane's collaboration has focused on the question: What if plants were given the means to be mobile? The works for this installation were created on the premise of conducting ambulation training or walking exercises by moving plants in three dimensions. The plants' conditions will be monitored using microvolt sensors designed to measure human brain wave activity, and displayed in the exhibition hall.
