Power of YEN

Power of YEN

Let us consider the value of a one-yen coin by the amount of light that it yields. How much electricity can 1 yen provide? The price of electricity for an average home is 16.41 yen for 1kWh. This means that for 16.41 yen one could light a 100-watt bulb for 10 hours, and for 1 yen, one could light a 100-watt bulb for approximately 37 minutes.
Electricity, water, and money. For city-dwellers, these may as well be air itself. In the city, they exist like natural elements, and so it is that we use them while being hardly conscious of their existence. But all of these elements exist as the result of human efforts, and in a sense are extreme representations of our man-made environment.
