Real-time seismic data from California's Hayward Fault is digitized and relayed via the Internet, then converted into sounds and images.
Enveloped in darkness and subject only to the audiovisual form of seismic vibrations, visitors establish a direct, intimate relationship with the Earth, while being reminded of their own fragility. The title of this work also refers to the Latin phrase memento mori (reminder of mortality).
