“type harvesting ILEX LATIFOLIA”

Outline

This is a work of a research for creating fonts that change their appearance according to time by using materials and plants that alter in the course of time. We use a plant named ILEX LATIFOLIA which has a quality of turning black when force or heat is applied to the backside of its leaf. After engraving letters on the leaves, we have been conducting a fixed point observation as the font deforms with the growth of the plant. We create the font data by collecting it at its suitable state form the observation. By utilizing dynamic materials for designing we are examining a novel concept for graphic design.
