The ringleader of the “Neen” net art movement, Miltos MANETAS has been creating numerous works incorporating video games since the 1990s. In “SuperMario Sleeping,” one of his “machinima” (video works based on game engines), the main character is depicted falling asleep when it isn’t moved via the game controller for a certain period of time. This work captures odd game situations that occur through irregular ways of user operation in the respective game.
