Born in 1981 and graduated from the Interior Space Design Department of Shih Chien University in Taipei and received his master's degree from the Graduate School of Art and Technology, Taipei National University of the Arts in 2008. YAO is one of Taiwan's new generation of sound artists, creating installations using mixtures of sound and images in addition to sound art. He resided in Japan from January to March, 2010, taking part in the Tokyo Wonder Site Residence Program.
