Sakane Itsuo, who was born in 1930, was employed by the Asahi Shimbun-sha and the Faculty of Environmental Information of Keio University before taking his current position as president of the Gifu Prefectural International Academy of Multimedia Art and Science. His many publications on science and art include Bi no zahou (Coordinates of beauty), Katachi mandara (The mandala of form), Asobi no hakubutsushi (A natural history of play), Kyokaisen no tabi (Travels on the boundaries), Kagaku to geijutsu no aida (Between science and art), and Imeeji no kairo (Image circuitry). In 1997, he also curated the Sensitive Chaos and Paul Demarinis exhibitions at ICC.
