Profile

Born in 1965, MAEBAYASHI Akitsugu presents as "locations" for experiences works that focus on "hearing" and "sound" as points if contact for the body and its environment. His works include "Audible Distance," which was Runner-up in the ICC BIENNALE' 97, and his 1999 work "Sonic Interface," which turned the impact of changes in hearing on sensory perception into a work of art. In "Open Space 2009" he presented "A Piece for Metronome and Anechoic Room," a work that utilizes three-dimensional acoustic technology. He is now an Associate Professor at the Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences (IAMAS).
